Domaine Le Priesmont - Manoir

A place where friends come home

The hunting lodge is a reminder of the glory years of the Belgian royal family, when Vielsalm was still the capital of the 'rallye’, where game is driven up by hunters, dogs and horses. It was built in 1919 by the Verhaeghe-De Naeyer family, who are still major shareholders of one of the largest Belgian companies. They invited their friends to the house for the hunt. In Vielsalm there were three famous rallyes: the rallye de Vielsalm, rallye de Priesmont and rallye de Ardenne. Each rallye was organised by different families, and started from hunting houses like this one. Horses, dogs and staff were brought to Vielsalm especially for the rallyes. It goes without saying that many hunters held the get together after the hunt often in higher esteem than the hunting party itself. After the rallye was banned in the eighties, the Verhaeghe-De Nayer family sold the house to the Heeren family. However, most of the meadows, ponds, courtyard and stables around the house have retained their original function.

Today Vielsalm is a quiet and pleasant holiday town, with bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants, banks and a train station. It is located in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, and is therefore for good reason a tourist attraction in the region. It is the perfect destination for nature lovers, with its many marked hiking and mountain bike trails. On rainy days, the swimming pool of the nearby Center Parcs is a welcome change.

A unique stay with character

All rooms at the Domaine de Priesmont have a unique character. Enjoy a good glass of wine in front of the stylised fireplaces in the cosy living room of the hunting lodge or get warm after a winter walk around the original redfyre-AGA-stove in the original kitchen, turned into a living kitchen of 56 m².

Would you like to hold a family party or a reception on the estate? The living kitchen has enough room for 24 people. In the unique dining room with original wooden panelling, up to 32 people can enjoy dinner together. The hall area of the house with its huge wooden staircase is perfect for receptions.

From the rooms on the first and second floor - each with its own bathroom with toilet and shower - you have all-round views of the high plateaus and wild, desolate ravines around Vielsalm. The large terrace in front of the chateau can accommodate no less than 100 guests who can enjoy the surrounding park together.
